Design Process & Fees

Every garden begins with a conversation—an understanding of place, of how a space is used, and how it might evolve. My approach is collaborative and considered, working with the character of each site to create gardens that feel grounded, natural, and personal.

To allow for flexibility, the design process is structured in stages.

Stage 1 — Concept Design

(from £400)

An initial exploration of your garden, shaping the overall direction and feel of the space.

This stage includes:

  • Site visit and consultation
  • A concept layout (not to scale)
  • Initial planting and material direction

This is an opportunity to establish the relationship between the built and the natural within your garden, and to define a clear design approach before moving into detail.

Stage 2 — Developed Design

(From £900)

A refined and resolved version of the concept, presented as a scaled drawing suitable for implementation.

This stage includes:

  • Detailed, scaled layout
  • Spatial organisation and key elements defined
  • Guidance for construction and next steps

Stage 3 — Planting Design

(From £500)

A detailed planting plan that reflects the character of the site and the overall design intent.

This stage includes:

  • Scaled planting plan
  • Plant schedule with quantities and spacing
  • Guidance on planting style and seasonal structure

Planting is approached as a living system—designed to establish well, evolve over time, and respond to its environment.

Additional Services

  • Plant sourcing and setting out
  • On-site planting
  • Ongoing advice and seasonal guidance

These can be discussed and tailored depending on the needs of the project.

Notes on Fees

Fees vary depending on the size and complexity of the garden. Following an initial conversation or site visit, a clear quotation will be provided before any work begins.

Approach

I see gardens not as fixed designs, but as evolving spaces shaped by both people and nature. My role is to guide that process—creating gardens that feel balanced, responsive, and connected to their surroundings.
